Dave and Paula Hebert
in Japan with Mission to the World

Dave and Paula met in Florida and married in 1978. Paula became a Christian in 1980 and Dave in 1984. They were involved in a number of ministries in America, including Evangelism Explosion, youth and music ministry, and assisting in church planting.

The Heberts joined MTW/IMPACT in 1990, serving in Japan for two years as church-planting assistants, working with college students, teaching English, and being involved in music ministry. Dave's duties also included directing a home stay ministry, which sent Japanese to stay in the homes of American Christians.

Since returning to Japan as career missionaries, and after completing full time language study, their focus has been primarily in college ministry. Dave's responsibilities include: college campus evangelism, oversight of short-term missionaries, training and discipling future campus ministers and staff, training nationals for the music ministry, worship leader, teaching bible, and assisting in the development and implementation of a new reformed college ministry model that will be replicated in strategic areas around the country. Paula reaches out to Japanese ladies through teaching English, church events, and being and wife and mother in their neighborhood.

Dave and Paula have four children: Jodye (10-29-82), Alyssa (8-07-86), Andrew (7-08-91) and Jordan (11-10-98).
Please pray for the Heberts as they fill various roles in Japan.

Bassam & Norma Chedid
in Jackson, MS

Both Bassam and Norma had the privilege of growing up in Christian homes in the Middle East. Bassam came from the
ancient city of Damascus. His family was introduced to Christ through the witness of a faithful missionary from the U.S.A.

Bassam received his B.A. from Simpson College in California, and his M. Div. and Doctorate of Missiology degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. He has served in several cross-cultural ministries including work among arabs and Muslims.

Norma, a native of Zahle, Lebanon, received her B.A. in
Christian Education in Beirut. She taught in a Christian School and was active in music and evangelism.

Though Bassam is unable to return to his homeland for ministry, but God has confirmed His call to serve among Arabs and Muslims, and burdened his and Norma's hearts to minister to this largely unreached segment living here at our door steps and in the 10/40 Window.

Bassam and Norma have two children, Chad Moses and Ana Lina, and are looking to the future with great expectation as they follow the Lord's leading, echoing Abraham's prayer: “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You” (Gen. 17:18).

Scott and Chris Devries

Scott is from Pensacola, Florida, where he heard and
responded to the gospel at McIlwain PCA. His call to
missions culminated during his studies at Belhaven College. He graduated in 1987 and completed the Master of Divinity degree in missions at Reformed Theological Seminary in 1991.

He served on a two-month IMPACT team, worked with MTW's church-planting team in the Czech Republic for over two years, and then gained an additional year of church-planting experience in Atlanta.

Chris grew up in Iowa and developed an interest in missions shortly after her conversion in 1986. She received a BA in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa and then completed an MA in Theological Studies at Covenant Theological Seminary in 1990. Chris also served with the MTW church-planting effort for an unreached people group from a strategic, but closed area. Pray that by God's all-sufficient grace they would proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called them out of darkness into His marvelous light.
